About me

I’m a Web Developer and Designer with extensive experience building, maintaining, and fixing websites. Originally with a background in Graphic Design and Printing, I taught myself HTML and CSS and started creating websites by the turn of the century. Later on I further expanded my knowledge by adding PHP, MySQL and JavaScript to my arsenal, and dived deeply into the world of PHP/MySQL-powered Content Management Systems.

Since 2009 I work remotely most of my time, although I’ve done some in-house contract and consulting work for companies in Europe and South East Asia.

WordPress related experience

I created my first WordPress site in 2006 for a printed magazine. At that time I also used to work with Joomla! (or rather Mambo), Drupal and other CMSs, but as time passed by I gradually got more and more involved with WordPress.

In 2009 I started working remotely for a Web Hosting company, a job that lasted for over 8 years and taught me the ins and outs of Linux-based server configurations. Being a small company the job was not very demanding, and allowed me to do some moonlighting on the side.

From 2013 onward I worked online simultaneously for a number of WordPress Support agencies, which provided me with the opportunity to understand the kinds of issues most users come across when setting up and running their WordPress websites.

Throughout all these years I worked in literally hundreds of WordPress websites and I’m fully acquainted with every aspect of installing, customizing and troubleshooting all kinds of WordPress installations. I also mentored many people including customers, co-workers, and employees from companies of all sizes, from small businesses to large multinationals, and with different technical skills, from the very basic to the very advanced.

I’m the kind of person who always get the jobs that other developers try to avoid, throughout my career it has always been like that . At first I hated that my coworkers relied on me as their last resort, and now I find myself actively looking for “trouble”. Challenging myself keeps me active and learning all the time. There’s always a way forward, you just need to care about the job and invest enough time to pull it through.

My daily tasks involve installing, configuring and customizing a wide range WordPress Themes, plugins and frameworks, including but not limited to the ones listed below:

My life at Codeable

I started working at Codeable on December 2019, and if I had to highlight something among the many things I appreciate from working here that would be the spirit of Coopetition. When you hire an expert from Codeable you literally put yourself into the hands of hundreds of top-notch specialists who rank among the top 2% in the world, and who collaborate together to complete projects. The system in my opinion is brilliantly designed because it makes it illogical to compete with each other, and instead it rewards everybody involved when there is cooperation. This really is a breath of fresh air compared to other environments where stabbing in the back and racing to the bottom are the usual politics. No such things here, for the simple reason that it benefits no one. On the contrary, helping each other, sharing knowledge and playing fair and honest yields tangible results.

A truly international company, full of professionals who speak the same programming languages that I do, and whose experiences and life-style relate closely to my own. Couldn’t be happier to be here. Just making it through the vetting process was a huge achievement. Only thing I regret is not having taken the time to apply before.

Personal interests

I collaborate with non-profit organizations as a Web Developer and have given some lectures about topics related to Web Accessibility mostly concerning WordPress and WooCommerce.

During the little free time left I have these days, I like to swim, sail, watch movies, and read about history and science.
